Hum Skinny Bird

Hum Skinny Bird ReviewHUM Skinny Bird is a dietary supplement for weight management. According to the official HUM Nutrition website, this nonprescription diet pill is an “all natural weight loss program.” It supposedly reduces stress eating, boosts metabolism and curbs appetite.

When this HUM Skinny Bird review was created, the ingredients within the vegan capsules included: Chromium, Caralluma Fimbriata Extract, 5-HTP, Green Tea Extract.

The suggested dose is to take 1 capsule up to 3 times per day, ideally 30 minutes before eating.

According to HUM Nutrition, each of the ingredients offers a benefit. For instance, Caralluma Fimbriata helps to curb appetite. Chromium helps to support healthy blood sugar levels, Green Tea boosts metabolism, and 5-HTP helps to reduce stress eating.

More specifically, the manufacturer seems to have a lot to say about 5-HTP, claiming that when used as a supplement, it enhances the production of serotonin. This naturally occurring chemical in the hypothalamus is believed to be involved in the regulation of food intake, encouraging within-meal satiation, and improving post-meal satiety.

Some science suggests that taking 300 mg of 5-HTP orally, 3 times per day, 30 minutes prior to meals for 2 to 12 weeks, can improve early satiety and reduces daily caloric intake in obese women.

HUM Nutrition lists other science in regard to the rest of its ingredients as well, which is commendable. However, when looking at the research that the company has cited, it reveals that the studies associated with it are very small and mainly preliminary. In other words, more scientific research is required before it can be truly determined how each of these ingredients could be beneficial for weight loss (if at all) and what effect (good or bad) they have on the body.

Moreover, while HUM Nutrition mentioned a 5-HTP study that found results when 300 mg of 5-HTP was used 3 times a day (a total of 900 mg), it should be noted that there is only 100 mg of 5-HTP per serving in HUM Skinny Bird. This means the maximum daily 3 capsule dose will provide only a total of 300 mg, which is far less than what was used in the study that reported benefits.

Essentially, while there are some good points about this product, such as it having minimal caffeine (green tea) and only a few scientifically studied ingredients within its formula, there is no solid proof that the ingredients are effective weight management aids on their own or combined in the HUM Skinny Bird formula.
