Tummy Tuck Belt

Tummy Tuck Belt review

The Tummy Tuck Belt is marketed as being a type of system that will slim down the abdomen when used according to its directions. Though it is advertised as unique and revolutionary, it does not appear to be highly different from a broad range of other similar products on the market. Like the others, it also promises a flatter, smaller stomach after having used it for only a few minutes each day.

Fitness Trackers as Weight Loss Tools

Fitness Trackers for Weight LossOver the last little while, fitness trackers in many forms have become extremely popular.  This technology is no longer just worn by early adopters.  Instead, it’s available and readily used by anyone who wants to be able to better understand their activity levels and other healthy lifestyle factors every day.

Can Fitness Trackers Support Weight Loss?

These little devices come in many different shapes and forms.  Most are wrist-worn, but there are also pendants, belt/waistband clips, and others that will also record movements and other factors, providing on-device feedback, but more often sending the info to an app.

New research is showing that people of all ages can benefit from features on fitness trackers.  One recent study showed that the step counter and accelerometer are the most helpful features in these devices for supporting weight loss when combined with regular exercise and calorie-controlled diet.  Another study has shown that they could be a very powerful tool for helping older people to be able to lose weight more effectively.

Weight Loss Support at Any Age

That latter study was conducted by Wake Forest University researchers. The participants were 48 individuals between the ages of 65 and 79 years and who were all obese. The study ran for a period of 10 months, which included 5 months in which there was an effort made to lose weight, and another 5 months which was a follow up period.

The participants in the study were randomly assigned to one of two different groups. The first group was provided with information about aerobic exercise and dieting. The second group was provided with this same information, but they were also given fitness trackers and some instructions regarding the way in which they should be used.

What the researchers found was that by the end of the study, the people who used the fitness trackers reduced their weight by about 10 percent from where it had been at the beginning of the research. On the other hand, the people who did not have the trackers reduced their weight by an average of only 5 percent of their starting level. This research was published in the Obesity journal’s online edition.

The authors concluded that this research offers evidence that providing people with a fitness tracker and the proper instructions for using it, as well as the right instruction for a proper diet and workout routine, could help those individuals to be able to lose weight and then keep it off once it’s gone.

Key Points

The study indicated that weight loss and weight loss maintenance can both benefit from a level of self-regulatory intervention such as what was provided through the tracker device. It should be noted that the individuals who had received the trackers did receive added attention in order to assist them in being able to alter their behaviors so that they could meet their goals. What was truly notable, however, was the tendency for spontaneous physical activity that was outside of the regular exercise program but that was often seen among those who had the fitness trackers.

Which Fitness Trackers Help the Most with Weight Loss?

The great news is that since pedometers and accelerometers are the features that are most helpful on fitness trackers to people trying to lose weight, you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a useful device. The key is to find a gadget you know you’ll wear regularly, that collects reliable data, and that features an app you’ll use.

The following are some of the most popular brands.  Within each one, there are often several models available.  Check out the features among these fitness trackers to be sure you’ll be able to use them as you want.  For instance, some have features like heart rate monitors or are waterproof. These will be important if you want to gauge the intensity of your workout or wear the device in the rain or while swimming. Some also monitor sleep, which can be useful in gaining a better overall idea of your healthy lifestyle beyond how many steps you’re taking each day.

  • Fitbit – Likely the most well-known brand with a range of adult and child devices with various features, accessories and price points, and a user-friendly app with a spectrum of tracking features.
  • Garmin – One of Fitbit’s top competitors. These devices also offer a spectrum of options, prices and a popular app that contains all your data.
  • AmazFit – This is among the fitness trackers in the lower price range but that doesn’t sacrifice features. It also has Alexa built-in, which is appealing to those who already have many Amazon products in their homes.
  • Apple Watch – If you have an iPhone and want a smartwatch with fitness tracker features, then this might be the option for you. It’s more expensive than other typical tracking devices, but it also offers more overall features beyond just keeping up with your workouts.

The Meal Measure

The Meal Measure review

The Meal Measure is a health and weight loss product that is meant to help people to learn proper portion control so that they can increase the odds that they are consuming the right quantities of the various food groups.

It is a tool that was designed to follow the food portion guidelines of the USDA’s “MyPyramid,” which replaced the 1992 “Food Guide Pyramid” in 2005. That said, it should be noted that since 2011, the USDA replaced “MyPyramid” with “MyPlate.”

The Meal Measure is a Handy Tool

This item is a product from a company called Ezy Dose, which is a brand of Apothecary Products. The Meal Measure is a round plastic tool that has been designed to sit on a plate. It has four compartments that are labeled for a different food group:

  • Protein
  • Starch
  • Vegetables or Fruit

There is one compartment for protein, one for starch and two for fruits and/or vegetables. Each of the compartments is one cup in size, but they also include a half cup line that is marked inside. As for the protein portion, it is approximately the size of a deck of cards.

The Meal Measure is meant to help dieters to be able to better portion out their meals to encourage faster and easier weight loss by eating the right amount of the various food groups, and to help to promote better nutrition by encouraging variety and appropriate quantities of the different foods necessary to stay healthy.

The MyPlate Guidelines

The USDA created MyPlate (formerly MyPyramid) as a reminder for Americans to find their healthy eating style and build it throughout their lifetime. What a person drinks and eats matters and the right mix of foods and beverages can help an individual be healthier in the present and in the future.

MyPlate is a more simplified version of MyPyramid. For the MyPlay icon, the USDA chose a plate to help grab the attention of consumers with a visual cue that serves as a reminder for healthy eating that is not intended to provide a specific message.

What makes the MyPlate plate image different from the Meal Measure tool is that the MyPlate image is divided into five sections:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Grains
  • Protein
  • Dairy

Grains and vegetables have the largest portions, with dairy being the smallest in size.

Convenient and Ideal for Most Meals

The Meal Measure is a practical product can be used for most meals and is dishwasher safe on the top rack. It is sold at a number of different websites and online marketplaces and is available in different colors, including blue and red.

On Amazon, the Meal Measure is advertised at being $9.34. As it does not need to remain on the plate when the meal is actually served, and is merely designed for proper portioning when the plate is being served, it can be used for multiple plates, so there is no need to purchase several when there will be more than one person eating and dieting together. This helps to make it not only practical but affordable.

Additionally, many people who have used it seem to like it. There have been dozens of customer reviews submitted online. Many of them found that the Meal Measure is a very helpful tool. They found that it was very easy to use, is clean and functioned very effectively as a method of gaining a better understanding of how large their portions should actually be.

Many people also pointed out that this was a much more practical way to portion food than using a plate that had dividers, as it was easier for them to be able to properly portion their servings without having to use different plates than everyone else. That fact was especially important at holidays and dinner parties.

An Oldie but a Goodie

Even though the Meal Measure is based on the older USDA MyPyramid Food Guidance System, all in all, it is still a valuable weight loss tool that provides a visual understanding of how much a person typically overeats in one area and doesn’t consume enough of other areas. This can be key in guiding an individual toward eating the right amounts of food and, therefore, naturally managing their weight and nutrition.

Steel Core

Steel Core ReviewReady to give stubborn belly fat the boot? Steel Core claims that it can target abdominal fat with clinically dosed ingredients that help to convert fat to energy, lower BMI, improve metabolism, and increase strength. The stimulant-free formula has been designed for both adult men and women and is produced by SteelFit.

Promising Scientifically Researched Ingredients

Steel Core claims to be scientifically formulated to help those who take it obtain the abs they’ve always wanted.  This is supposedly made possible with a synergistic mix of ingredients that lower fat storage and promote fat burning. Among these ingredients include cortisol and stress controlling agents, such as Ashwagandha, which SteelFit says can “optimize your hormone levels for maximum fat loss.”

With that said the Steel Core ingredients include:

  • L-Carnitne Fumarate
  • Sicilian Red Orange Fruit
  • Ashwagandha Root
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Grains of Paradise
  • Dihydrocapsiate

Steel Core does contain multiple ingredients that have been studied and found to have the potential to offer benefits to individuals who are overweight or obese, such as grains of paradise, which may help to decrease fat levels by preventing visceral fat from accumulating in the body. Also, Ashwagandha, which can lower stress, food cravings and encourage better eating habits.

Additionally, this diet pill contains Alha Lipoic Acid (ALA), which is believed to help shift glucose away from fat cells and into muscles, to help lower stored fat and increase energy. Research https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28629898 suggests that supplementing with ALA can decrease body weight and BMI.

That being said, you should know that in spite of this weight management aid containing several ingredients with promising benefits, neither Steel Core nor its ingredients have been proven effective as practical treatments for obesity or weight loss. All the ingredients require further study for their efficacy to be truly determined.

Steel Core is Stimulant-Free

One of the benefits of taking Steel Core, however, is the fact that the formula is stimulant-free. It does not contain caffeine or other stimulant-related ingredients. This is good news for anyone who is seeking an OTC diet pill without these substances.

That said, do keep in mind that simply because it lacks these ingredients, this does not mean that Steel Core is without side effects or that it is guaranteed to work. As is recommended when taking any dietary supplement – especially if you have an existing medical condition and/or are taking medications or intend to take this supplement for the long-term – consulting with your healthcare provider first is always a wise idea.

Flex Belt Abdominal Toning Belt

flex belt abdominal toning system

The Flex Belt Abdominal Toning Belt is a new form of a type of product that has been around for decades. These products have typically been shot down for being ineffective, but the manufacturers of this particular model insist that it is a new technology that is highly effective.

Wear the Flex Belt Abdominal Toning Belt Everywhere and Anywhere

The claim is that this new and improved version of this product will allow the wearer to be able to use it in many ways, such as:

  • At work
  • Watching television
  • Walking the dog
  • And even while doing another workout

Supposedly, whenever it is used, it will cause the ab muscles to be accessed and exercised. It claims to be “100% medical science”.

How It Works

The Flex Belt uses technology called Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) and has FDA clearance as a class II medical device that can be sold directly to the consumer.

This product features three pre-positioned, medical-grade GelPads, which cover the central abdominal muscles and external obliques. Signals from the belt extend to the nerves where they are most concentrated. These nerves spread out to reach all the abdominal muscles (including those muscles beyond what’s covered by the pad) and works all the muscles simultaneously, causing them to naturally relax and contract.

That said, if real results are wanted, it is recommended that a user should not simply sit and hope that the Flex Belt will do all the work. Instead, it may be able to help to enhance the benefits of abdominal exercises that a dieter is already doing. Simply wearing the belt without any additional exercises won’t contribute much to the fitness of the individual.

The advertising for the product claims that it will not only help individuals to tone the muscles when they don’t have fit abs, but it will also help people who are already in shape to be able to give their muscles greater definition. It does seem as though it would be more beneficial for those who are already in shape than for people looking to lose weight.

The reason is that while the muscles may be toned, the device does not actually burn fat. Therefore, the layer of fat will remain overtop of the toned muscles so that any potential benefits of the device will not be visible. For people who have already eliminated the fat around their middles, they may have a chance of using the product to enhance their regular exercises and give their abs a little bit more definition than could be achieved on their own.

What to Consider Before Buying the Flex Belt

First and foremost, this machine targets only the abdominal muscles. In order to lose weight and to actually achieve toned abs, it is important to work out the entire body through both cardio and strength training. The Flex Belt provides neither of those types of exercise.

Do not expect that by just wearing this belt, or the company’s other products (The Flex Mini and The Flex Arms) that fat will magically melt off your body and toned muscles will appear. You still need to engage in conventional weight management strategies, such as adhering to a healthy calorie-conscious diet and engaging in regular cardio exercise and strength training.

The Flex Belt is not ideal for everyone to use. This product has been designed for healthy adult men and women. Those who should not use this device include:

  • Pregnant woman
  • Women who have just had a baby (wait until 6 weeks after giving birth or 3 months after cesarean section)
  • Individuals with heart problems, including those fitted with a pacemaker
  • Diabetics who require insulin injection
  • Individuals with cancer, especially if cancerous lesions are present on the skin

If you have any concerns about using this device, be sure to bring these up with your healthcare provider before using it.

At the time of this Flex Belt Abdominal Toning Belt review, the cost of the product was $199.99, which is more expensive than many other products in this category. However, it is still cheaper than many pieces of home gym equipment.

Hum Skinny Bird

Hum Skinny Bird ReviewHUM Skinny Bird is a dietary supplement for weight management. According to the official HUM Nutrition website, this nonprescription diet pill is an “all natural weight loss program.” It supposedly reduces stress eating, boosts metabolism and curbs appetite.

When this HUM Skinny Bird review was created, the ingredients within the vegan capsules included: Chromium, Caralluma Fimbriata Extract, 5-HTP, Green Tea Extract.

The suggested dose is to take 1 capsule up to 3 times per day, ideally 30 minutes before eating.

According to HUM Nutrition, each of the ingredients offers a benefit. For instance, Caralluma Fimbriata helps to curb appetite. Chromium helps to support healthy blood sugar levels, Green Tea boosts metabolism, and 5-HTP helps to reduce stress eating.

More specifically, the manufacturer seems to have a lot to say about 5-HTP, claiming that when used as a supplement, it enhances the production of serotonin. This naturally occurring chemical in the hypothalamus is believed to be involved in the regulation of food intake, encouraging within-meal satiation, and improving post-meal satiety.

Some science suggests that taking 300 mg of 5-HTP orally, 3 times per day, 30 minutes prior to meals for 2 to 12 weeks, can improve early satiety and reduces daily caloric intake in obese women.

HUM Nutrition lists other science in regard to the rest of its ingredients as well, which is commendable. However, when looking at the research that the company has cited, it reveals that the studies associated with it are very small and mainly preliminary. In other words, more scientific research is required before it can be truly determined how each of these ingredients could be beneficial for weight loss (if at all) and what effect (good or bad) they have on the body.

Moreover, while HUM Nutrition mentioned a 5-HTP study that found results when 300 mg of 5-HTP was used 3 times a day (a total of 900 mg), it should be noted that there is only 100 mg of 5-HTP per serving in HUM Skinny Bird. This means the maximum daily 3 capsule dose will provide only a total of 300 mg, which is far less than what was used in the study that reported benefits.

Essentially, while there are some good points about this product, such as it having minimal caffeine (green tea) and only a few scientifically studied ingredients within its formula, there is no solid proof that the ingredients are effective weight management aids on their own or combined in the HUM Skinny Bird formula.

Carb Blocker Pure

Carb Blocker Pure ReviewCarb Blocker Pure claims to be a “premium quality carb blocker” and the “#1 carb blocker extract.” It is produced in the USA and is distributed by Carb Blocker Pure. The manufacturer claims that the “natural solution maximum strength natural formula” is strong, safe and targeted.

Carb Blocker Pure says that it uses extensively researched ingredients that are at the top of their respective health goals in terms of purity, scientific research and quality standards. The company is confident that there is no better carb blocker product on the market than Carb Blocker Pure.

Carb Blocker Pure certainly doesn’t lack confidence in its diet pill and goes so far as to say that it is doctor recommended and hints that the ingredients in its supplement are properly dosed to provide positive effects. It also claims that Carb Blocker Pure is a “proven alternative” to many synthetic and possible dangerous carb blocker products on the market.

All that being said, according to the product’s supplement facts label when this Carb Blocker Pure review was written, the formula was composed of the following ingredients: Chromium, White Kidney Beans, Prickly Pear, Cinnamon Bark Extract, Lipase, Protease, BioPerine.

The directions are to take 2 capsules daily. For best results, the manufacturer recommends taking 1 capsule in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, preferably after meals.

In regard to its potential benefits, all the ingredients in Carb Blocker Pure have been clinically tested. Some research suggests that white kidney bean can prevent some ingested carbs from being broken down. The thought is that since they are not digested, these carbs will not be stored as fat. Chromium is thought to work by helping to reduce carb cravings and can help to regulate blood sugar levels. Prickly pear is also thought to help decrease blood sugar levels.

All that being said, there is no scientific proof that taking any of these ingredients on their own or in the Carb Blocker Pure formula will lead to measurable fat loss results. Moreover, this product claims to be safe. However, it has never been proven safe nor is it without side effects. All supplements carry the risk of side effects. The most common that are likely to be experienced with this diet pill are digestive upset/discomfort.

Doctor recommended or not, you should first speak with your healthcare professional about Carb Blocker Pure if you are interested in taking it to help you with your weight management efforts.
